What can we find you doing when you're not whipping up a dish for Men Who Cook?

You'll find me out on the water. I have a 43-foot Meridian cruiser and whenever I can, I’m headed to the Outer Banks. There’s nothing better than being out on the open water with good company and no agenda. 

Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?

When someone you love is sick and far from home, the last thing a family should worry about is where they’re going to sleep. The SECU Family House removes that burden. I’ve spent my career in food, and food is comfort. This event combines two things I care deeply about: feeding people well and supporting families in their hardest moments.

What was the first thing you remember cooking?

Saturday morning pancakes with my boys. But not just any pancakes. I’d make them into shapes and have the kids guess what they were. Rocket ships, baseball diamonds, four-leaf clovers. We’d go through the whole lineup. Those mornings are some of my favorite memories. That’s really where my love of cooking for people started, watching their faces light up at the table.

Name a fun fact people may not know about you.

I am a dual citizen of Canada and the United States. I grew up in the US but spent 15 years living in Canada working with the country's largest retailer. I have seen a lot of the world through the lens of food, and that experience shaped everything about how I think about this industry.

What can we find you doing when you're not whipping up a dish for Men Who Cook?

Spending time with my children, working around our little farm, and spending any left over time I have on my Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?

It’s a very worthy cause.

What was the first thing you remember cooking?

Grilled cheese sandwich.

I also volunteer as Cub Scouts den leader for Pack 400 with my children.
