Chef Scott Tyree

What can we find you doing when you're not whipping up a dish for Men Who Cook?

Usually something outside, fishing, hunting or some baseball related activity. Watching the Braves or looking after some of the farm critters.

Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?

Because we’ve been blessed with so much.

What was the first thing you remember cooking?

A chocolate pie with my grandma. It was supposed to be for a church fundraising sale, but 5 year old me whined until she let me keep it.

Name a fun fact people may not know about you.

I have a pretty neat collection of baseball bobble heads. Most from games we’ve attended like the Home Depot tools that race at Truist Park in Atlanta and some as surprise gifts from my wife Shellie like the complete McDonald Land character set.. The latest addition is a Bob Ross from the Daytona Tortugas’ Bob Ross Night we were lucky enough to attend last month.

What can we find you doing when you're not whipping up a dish for Men Who Cook?

Our family lives to volunteer for the SECU house by providing weekly snacks and small treats. I love to watch our son on the baseball field and our daughter planning her future. We also live on a farm so giving our highland cows daily treats is a priority.

Why is it important to you to give back (to the SECU Family House)?

It’s important for our family to give back to the SECU house because our family has been so blessed. One thing my husband and I decided long ago to do was teach our kids to always give back and help anyone in need.

What was the first thing you remember cooking?

When we first got married I did not know how to cook. I made Parmesan chicken and we ate it at least 3 times a week the first year of marriage. Now my husband will not eat it at all.

Name a fun fact people may not know about you.

We have highland cows and I work from home. Every morning one of our highland cows named Diamond will jump the fence to come to the front porch where I give her a mid morning treat such as a muffin.
