Flinn & Oliana's Merrohawke Nature School Fundraising Page

The other day mom and dad took us out to 'Four Rocks & Devil's Den.' It's a really cool place that I found last year when I signed up for Merrohawke Nature School. I call the shots in our family, and I INSISTED that my parents send me there. I loved it so much that I went back multiple times!

My little sister, Oliana, had never been. Dad heard that the awesome teachers at MNS set up a painted rock scavenger hunt - so he thought 'Wow what a great time to go!' I followed along knowing full well that I was going to take Oliana on our own scavenger hunt.

You ever heard of this bug called Roly Polys? They are so cool. You pick them up and then curl up in your hand to protect themselves. I didn't know anything about them before I went to Nature School. I was more than willing to show Oliana where you can find them. We left mom and dad in the dust to play their little scavenger hunt game. Oli and I had a mission to complete - tip over all the tree logs and find Roly Polys.

At first, it was difficult teaching Oliana to be gentle and not squish the bugs, but with my guidance, she got a hang of it. You see, typically you can find my sister and me at home playing horses or princesses, but you get me out in nature and I'm a whole new animal. I love being in the woods. There is so much to do. So much to explore. I wouldn't be the awesome human that I am without nature. I owe it all to Merrohawke Nature School. They taught me the ropes so I can pass it on to my sister and my mom and dad

Ok, why am I telling you this? Well - because of this stupid Corona Virus we weren't able to have our fundraiser this year. That's a big deal...at least my dad says it is. I don't really understand the concept of money yet. All I do is ask for something. Give my dad a hug and a kiss and boom it appears!

Love to you all!

PS - here's a message from my friend and Executive Director, Kate Yeomans:

Today we ask for your strong support so that all youth may grow Strong by Nature at Merrohawke.

We had planned to hold our annual Fundraising Auction Benefit this spring, but we changed course and instead are reaching out to you, here, to ask for your support.

We know that this summer, after a spring spent in isolation, indoors and plugged into electronic screens for distance learning, children and teens need outdoor time with their friends at Merrohawke more than ever before.

With your help, we will be ready for them.
