Every Monday night, 85 high performing high school students and more than 150 community volunteers pour into the halls of West High School, George Washington High School and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Early College to accomplish one goal, one vision: access to quality post-secondary education.

The mission of Minds Matter of Denver (Minds Matter) is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. MMD provides students with a clear path towards higher education by building the requisite skills for both academic and personal achievement. 

To accomplish this mission, Minds Matter spends each year helping students increase their academic performance and leadership skills through a concentrated mentoring program, which matches each student with two or more adult mentors in a highly personalized three-year partnership.

We are proud to say that since the program’s inception, 100% of MMD graduates from low income backgrounds in Denver, 99 in total, have been accepted to a four-year college or university with a scholarship. This past year (School Year 2016-2017), ~37% of MMD graduates (7 out of 19) were accepted to their top choice schools and 74% (14 out of 19) entered college without having to take out any student loans.
