I support youth mentoring because our youth are our future!  Every child that needs a mentor should be able to be connected to a caring individual who is there to support them!  VMP helps organizations connect mentors to mentees who are in need!  I have been a PROUD board member for 6 years and truly enjoy spreading the word about he good work that VMP is doing!

Kids who have mentors are less likely to drop out of school or engage in drug and alcohol use, and are more likely to go to and stay in college. They have a more positive outlook on their futures, and stronger relationships with peers and parents.

Virginia Mentoring Partnership is an independent nonprofit organization founded in 1993 to provide training and support to mentors and mentoring programs across Virginia. VMP leads the mentoring movement in Virginia to address this “mentoring gap” by supporting strong programs and raising collective awareness about the impact of mentoring with community stakeholders, public officials, and potential volunteers.

VMP’s mission: We partner with youth mentoring programs to grow their impact, because high-quality mentoring transforms lives and strengthens Virginia communities.

$25 will allow VMP to train 1 caring adult to become a great mentor to a child in Virginia

$50 provides materials for mentor recruitment to help reduce waiting lists at partner programs

$100 supports 2 new volunteer mentors to be trained and matched with children in Virginia

$300 gives 4 hours of quality coaching to mentoring program staff to support their missions

$500 sponsors a specialized training for mentors on cultural competency or trauma-informed care
