I have been participating in this fundraiser for the last 2 years. This will be my third year and am more than happy to be participating. I was affected by a still born birth about two years ago. When you are told you are pregnant hundreds of things go through your mind such as: This is so exciting! Oh my, this is going to be expensive! I can't wait to tell everyone! But you never think of the possibility that in one moment it can be taken away from you. I think this is something that needs to be talked about and brought to people's attention. I was 6 months pregnant when I found out Benny didn't have a heartbeat. That was one of the most shocking moments of my life. Once again hundreds of things went through my mind. But the main thing was what I can do to help prevent this and be made more aware of what happens.
I said hello and goodbye to my son in the same moment. As a young mom who had just experienced an uneventful pregnancy and was just 3 months away from my due date, stillbirth was never in my vocabulary. I never knew it still happened so often today. Since then, I have met so many others and made many friends who have been down the same path I have. I want to make sure to spread awareness.
