Our sweet Beckett was born sleeping on October 20, 2011 at 37 weeks old. During our pregnancy, we had no indication that anything was wrong, and after he was born, we did not learn of any reason why his little life on Earth was cut short. We miss him every day, and we often imagine what he would look like and what his personality would be like if he were here with us. While the sting of our loss has softened with time, the heartbreak of losing him - of not being able to tuck him in at night, of not feeling the warmth of his arms around us, of not seeing him play with his brothers - is ever present.

As we have navigated our loss, we have been blessed with incredibly supportive family and friends. We have become connected to other families who have said good-bye to their babies and have fought to find a new normal. And more recently, we have discovered the Star Legacy Foundation which is doing ground-breaking work toward providing education, awareness, and training for health care providers and their patients in order to prevent more families from losing their babies. They are also engaged in important legislative work to increase commitment to research and support for families. We are inspired by their compassion, courage, and commitment toward learning more about stillbirth and infant loss and sharing that information on a national and global scale.
