Lucy and Henry's Team Fundraising Page!

SWIM! BIKE! RUN! Help us reach our fundraising goal of $1500!

Hello Friends and Family,

In August, Lucy will participate in her fourth Hy-Vee Pinky Swear Kid's Triathlon.  After cheering on his sister for four years, Henry will participate for the first time ever!  With the help of many of you, last year Lucy raised over $1000.  Now, with little brother on the team, their combined goal is $1500.  Here are the kids in their own words:

We'll swim 100 yards, bike 3 miles and run a half mile to raise money for kids with cancer. Here are some of the reasons we are racing:

Henry:

1. To raise money for kids with cancer!

2.  To exercise!

3.  To get better at swimming, biking and running!

Lucy:

1.  It's fun!

2.  I like helping people!

3.  It makes me feel good to raise money for kids with cancer!

We hope you'll make a donation!  Click  the "Donate Now" button

Sincerely,

Lucy and Henry Jones

A note from Lucy and Henry's mom:

Every year I am moved and impressed by the Pinky Swear Triathlon.  When the kids arrive at the race, a volunteer requests permission to write the name of a kid with cancer on the back of their legs.  I watched the impact this had on Lucy - she talked about wanting to work harder to complete the race because she was racing for that child.  Kids learn about serving others, working hard to meet a challenge and the power in numbers.  It is quite a sight to watch over 200 matching swim caps assemble at Lake Nokomis.  It's a fun event, everyone's a winner and the kids feel a huge sense of accomplishment as they cross the finish line, all for a very worthy cause.  I hope you'll support them and the kids they're racing for. - Genevieve

The Pinky Swear Story

In December 2002, nine-year-old Mitch Chepokas, terminally ill with bone cancer, withdrew the entire $6,000 from his savings account and put it in envelopes for the kids on the pediatric oncology floor at the hospital. After giving all of his money away, Mitch made a pinky swear promise with his dad to always help children with cancer and their families after he was gone. Mitch passed away on April 11, 2003, and shortly afterward, the Pinky Swear Foundation was established by Mitch's parents to honor the promise he made with his dad.

Did you know that one out of 11 families who have a child diagnosed with cancer will be forced to file for bankruptcy?

Together we can make a life-changing difference for kids with cancer and their families like Mitch did.

Your tax-deductible donation provides families facing cancer with financial and emotional support, including grants for stable housing, reliable transportation, utilities, food and weekend getaways so they can focus on what’s most important: their child battling cancer.
