Hi, my name is Hassan Koroma, and I am currently serving as a volunteer with Mercy Ships. Many people know Mercy Ships for the life-changing surgeries and medical care we provide around the world - but few people see the essential work happening behind the scenes that makes every surgery possible. That’s where my role comes in.
I serve onboard as an Engineer Storekeeper. My responsibility is to ensure the ship has every spare part, tool, and technical component needed to keep our floating hospital running safely and efficiently. From ordering critical machinery parts to managing the inventory that supports daily maintenance, my work helps our engineering team keep the ship operating - so our medical teams can continue transforming lives.
Every successful surgery depends on a fully functioning ship.
Every repaired cleft lip, restored eye, or life-saving tumor removal can only happen because the ship keeps moving, keeps powering, and keeps caring.
This is my part in the Mercy Ships mission:
I help keep the ship running so our patients can keep hoping.
