Hello! My name is Gerad Gbemenou,from Benin in the West Africa .
I’ve been serving with Mercy Ships since 2009, starting as day crew in Benin, then moving to Togo in 2010 and 2012.
In 2012, I joined the Africa Mercy as a volunteer crew member in Guinee in the food service depatement( Galley) , and I served for two Years and return to my country Benin.
Now i joined the ship again in Madagascar in 2024 and still working in the food service depatement. My role is essential in supporting the mission by ensuring that all volunteers and staff on board are well-fed and nourished. While medical teams provide life-changing surgeries, my work in the galley keeps the ship running smoothly by preparing meals, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and creating a welcoming environment for the crew.
As a Christian, I’ve seen God’s hand guiding me on this journey, and as an African, I’m especially proud to play a part in helping fellow Africans access the medical care they deserve. It’s an honor to serve, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a difference.
