This year, I’m walking with more purpose than ever as The Children’s Heart Foundation celebrates 30 incredible years of funding research that saves lives and changes futures.
For our family, this mission is deeply personal. Ellie would not be here with us today without the decades of research, medical advancements, surgical innovations, and treatments that have changed what is possible for children born with congenital heart defects. The care that saved her life didn’t happen overnight. It was built on years of research, on doctors and scientists asking what could be done better, and on families and supporters who believed that children like Ellie deserved more time.
Because of those advancements, our daughter is here. She is growing, laughing, learning, and celebrating birthdays we once could only pray she would get to see. And we know there is still so much more work to be done for the Heart Warriors who will come after her.
That’s why I’m participating in the Congenital Heart Walk and supporting The Children’s Heart Foundation’s mission to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects through groundbreaking research. For three decades, this work has helped improve survival, reduce complications, advance treatments and surgical care, and give children with CHDs the chance to live longer, fuller lives.
This isn’t just a walk for us. It’s a walk of gratitude for the research that helped save Ellie’s life, a walk in honor of every Heart Warrior and family who has walked this road, and a walk toward the next 30 years of hope.
