National Links Trust NLT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to positively impacting local communities across the United States by protecting and promoting accessible, affordable, and engaging municipal golf courses. While we undertake a number of initiatives aimed at educating and connecting municipal golf stakeholders nationwide, much of our current work takes place in Washington, DC.
In our nation’s capital, we have a 50-year lease with the National Park Service to operate and rehabilitate the city’s three public golf courses – Rock Creek Park Golf, Langston Golf Course, and East Potomac Golf Links.
All three courses are historically and culturally relevant, but due to deferred maintenance and underinvestment, they are not living up to their potentials. Our work aims to address this.
NLT is taking action in Washington, DC with both short and long-term emphases. In the short-term, we operate community-focused programs. Most notably is the Jack Vardaman Workforce Development Program which aims to increase accessibility to golf and provide job training, life skills, and an income for local adolescents in the Washington, DC community at the historic Langston Golf Course.
We also have undertaken course improvement projects, progressing course conditions, enhancing architecture, and elevating the player experience while keeping rates affordable for locals and tourists alike. These short-term improvement projects and initiatives build towards our long-term plan to rehabilitate our three courses with the help of world-renowned course architects, Gil Hanse, Beau Welling, and Tom Doak, all of whom have donated their services.
Through investing in our facilities through this long-term project, NLT can expand programming like the Vardaman Program, help introduce the game to even more people of all different backgrounds, and better support our community partner organizations.
With your support, we can do all of this and more.
