Our son, Zachary, is a thriving 8th grader, and his twin brother, Micah, should be, too. But tragically, Micah developed necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), spent months in the NICU and PICU, and then left this Earth just before the twins' 1st birthday. We only held Micah in our arms for 324 short days. Elijah never got to meet his brother, Micah.
We've learned how to share Micah's light and carry him in our hearts every moment of every day, but the ache will always be there.
We launched the NEC Society after Micah passed away to advance research, education, and advocacy so other families can avoid the devastation of NEC. The NEC Society is now the world's leading nonprofit dedicated to necrotizing enterocolitis, and we are honored to match donations up to $10,000 during NEC Awareness Month to help babies like Micah.
Thank you for honoring Micah and supporting the NEC Society's work!
