We’re the McGuire brothers—Ryan (16) and Jake (14)—and we’re running it back this year with a goal of $12,000.
This will be Ryan’s 12th Golf Marathon and Jake’s 2nd, which is kind of crazy to think about. We’ve basically grown up around Golf Fights Cancer with our mom as Executive Director, so golf + giving back has always just been part of our lives. Somewhere along the way we realized two things are true: helping people matters, and golf is the greatest game ever played.
Our “why” is pretty simple. We get to spend a full day doing something we love—playing 100 holes—and turn it into something bigger by helping people affected by cancer. It also gives us a chance every year to honor Danny Nickerson. April 25th marks 11 years since his passing, and we’re proud to keep supporting pediatric cancer in his name.
On June 4th, we’ll be out there with about 60 other golfers (ages 12 to 72), spread across 36 holes. We tee off at 7AM and go until around 5PM. It’s a long day—lots of hot dogs, Gatorade, sunscreen, probably way too many lost balls, and definitely some Gold Bond.
The best part of the whole day is the lunch program when everyone shares their “why.” It’s one of those moments where you look around and realize everyone there loves golf, stepped out of their comfort zone to ask for support, and is trying to make a difference. Together, across the two-day event, we’ll raise over $1.25 million, which is honestly insane.
Thanks so much for all your support in the past—it really means a lot to us. If you’re able to, we’d love for you to help us hit our goal this year.
Sincerely,
Ryan McGuire ’27
Jake McGuire ‘29
