As you may know, Lēto provides smoothies designed for pregnancy and postpartum and is manufactured on Chicago's West Side at The Hatchery. What you may not know is that our production assistant, Shakyra, was a part of the New Moms program before joining the Lēto team.
As Shakyra so aptly shared with the Lēto community one Thanksgiving,
"You may not have met me but I help package and box all Lēto smoothies. During a day packaging Lēto pouches, I came up with the idea for Lēto to donate to New Moms, a program I went through that helps young moms. (I wish I had Lēto when I was pregnant!)
I started the New Moms program when my daughter was 3. The program helped me build work and home skills that I will always take with me, like stress tolerance - because having a 3-year-old is stressful (especially when she has an outburst in public!)
When I was in the New Moms program, every day started with a workshop at 9 am to learn a new skill (like meditation, time management, stress tolerance). Then, I would go to work at Bright Endeavors where I learned job skills - I poured candles! Before we left for the day, we would sit down as a group, journal about the skill we used the most that day, and take about the skill. The New Moms program was a great experience!"
