Our daughter Alice Huntington blair was born stillborn on October 7th, 2016, exactly two weeks before her due date due to a cord accident. My pregnancy was completely normal, every routine appointment (including the week before her death) was uneventful. She was perfect. Anyone who has had children themselves or been close to a pregnancy knows how loved and anticipated our unborn children are. Alice was a much beloved and anticipated child and sibling, the carseat was installed, clothes were washed and we were all so excited to bring our baby home. On October 7th this blissfully happy time turned into an unimaginable nightmare, we were left in shock and completely heartbroken.

Stillbirth is rarely talked about and often referred to as a "taboo subject". Here are some quick facts since many people are unaware of the staggering statistics: 1 in 160 American pregnancies end in stillbirth or 26,000 babies a year (the equivalant of a schoolbus of children - (71) dying everyday), and there are 10 times the amount of stillbirths each year than SIDS.  Almost 50% of stillbirths occur at or near full term in otherwise healthy babies.  And yet, very few people realize that this is happening or are doing anything to stop it.

Following Alice's death we found the Star Legacy Foundation. We were drawn to the Star Legacy Foundation because their main focus is research and prevention, while many of the other US stillbirth charities (also very important and significant) are more focused on grief support for families.

We would love for you to join myself, Lanyon and Stella on April 28th when we walk to honor Alice's memory and help raise money for Star Legacy!
