Cindy's Journey

My maternal grandmother faced a courageous battle with four different cancers and I could probably say the word "cancer" before I could walk.

My marathon journey started back in 1999. I always dreamed of running up First Avenue in the NYC marathon and wanted to run for a meaningful charity dedicated to the fight against cancer. It is hard to imagine but, at that time, there weren’t many organizations sponsoring marathon teams so I joined LLS’s Team in Training.

Over the years, people have asked me on countless occasions about my connection to cancer and I always respond by sharing that my lifetime personal and professional commitment is to the neverending fight against all cancers. My maternal grandmother faced a courageous battle with four different cancers from the time my mom was four years old and I could probably say the word "cancer" before I could walk.

On November 2nd, I am honored to take the starting line for my 13th marathon, and my second with Team Let's Win.
