Research estimates that approximately 76% of individuals with an autism diagnosis also have sensory processing differences that significantly impact functioning.

A Campaign to Improve League School's Occupational Therapy Gym

Providing the resources necessary for all of League School's students to succeed

When individuals with autism have difficulty effectively processing sensory input, challenges with emotional regulation are often present. This is especially relevant for the student population at League School. Occupational therapy promotes skill development and guides in the implementation of necessary accommodations to foster functional independence in all areas of daily life that promote well-being.

At League School, occupational therapists use meaningful exercises to help students engage in activities that they participate in on a daily basis by addressing the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and sensory components of performance in the educational environment. League School's Occupational Therapy gym was designed to serve a much different student population than is currently being served today. The space is not only being used by more students than ever before, but also by students with broader ranges of needs, ages, and abilities.

As we continue to increase our student population, it will be crucial for League School to provide functional, safe, and extensive equipment options in our Occupational Therapy Gym to meet the varying sensory needs of our students that will, in turn, support overall well-being and success.
