As a longtime volunteer with Junior Achievement, I believe in its mission and core values. JA teaches students the basics of financial literacy: how to create a budget, how to manage their spending habits, investments, and spending. With rising personal credit card and student debt levels, those skills are critical for all young men and women that will soon be entering the workforce. Many students lack the opportunity to learn those skills at home, and their schools, in partnership with JA, provide that opportunity for them. I've witnessed firsthand how JA connects students with positive role models in the corporate and public sectors, as well as helps them develop essential problem-solving skills.
