"The Beta Kappa Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order at the University of Maryland is proud to stand as a brotherhood founded with the purpose to be a moral compass for the modern gentleman.  Since being established as an active chapter on August 12, 1914, the chapter’s commitment to community and philanthropy has been of top priority.  Although the chapter’s focuses have varied throughout the years, the most relevant project that Beta Kappa takes part in is the annual “Breastfest of Champions” where the brothers come together every fall to donate tens of thousands of dollars to local and national Breast Cancer Initiatives.  After 11 successful years, the brothers of the Beta Kappa chapter are proud to have established this event for what promises to be a long time.  However, with the man power and commitment that the brotherhood offers, they are looking to do more.  In order to maximize their impact on those in need the brothers of KA at UMD are seeking to establish another annual philanthropy that will take place every spring through the help of the Independence Fund."
