About Zach Wolz

After three year of crewing for the Opportunists four-person RAAM teams, it is Zach Wolz’ turn to participate on a bike. The problem is that none of the past Opportunists are available to race this year and Zach’s friends are not prepared to take on the challenge of RAAM as a relay team. Unwilling to leave the Opportunity children without the support of a racing event, Zach took what he calls “the natural course” and signed up for RAW solo!

The Opportunists team members make it their objective to bring attention to, and raise money for, the amazing work done at Opportunity Early Childhood Education and Family Center. Opportunity (Palm Beach County’s oldest children’s charity) takes on the task of providing under-privileged children with the education needed during their most formative years to set them on the path to be their best success. The benefits of the early childhood program extend to providing all-day care, which allows the parents to work full time and move toward self-sufficiency. Opportunity will soon offer an after school program for the older siblings of their enrolled children, which will be a safe place for homework and afterschool activities.

Zach has been riding for nearly twelve years. Prior to riding, Zach participated in triathlons, including one full distance. Zach says it did not take long for him to realize that he was a mediocre runner, at best, and an abhorrent swimmer. However, he sure can ride a bike. With a very decent record at the random criterium race and a good time trial result, Zach has taken home three Florida state championships in Category 4 and Masters. Ultra distance? Zach road 412 miles at Sebring 24 Hours so we think he’s got this!
