Meet Iris. She's 8 years old, a pistol with a heart of gold and a sense of humor that keeps everyone on their toes. She loves being outside, playing, and helping in the kitchen and the garden. Above all, she LOVES her big sissy, Rosy.

Iris was born with double inlet left ventricle (DILV), a congenital heart defect (CHD) that is lifelong and ever present. Since birth, she has been through innumerable procedures and surgeries, most recently this summer. Through all of it, she has been tough as nails, and our whole family has stayed hopeful, because every year research brings new advancements.

We walk so she can run.

Iris is not alone. Every 15 minutes in the United States, a baby is born with a CHD, making it the most common birth defect in our country. This year we're walking to celebrate 30 incredible years of The Children's Heart Foundation funding research that saves lives. For three decades, CHF has driven the treatments and surgical advances that have transformed survival rates and given kids like Iris the chance to thrive.

The Congenital Heart Walk keeps that impact going. Our goal is to raise funds to support CHF's work to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs through groundbreaking research that improves outcomes, reduces complications, and helps Heart Warriors live longer, healthier lives.
