Last February, I went over the edge in a movement against youth violence- however that was only a small, public action in the major moves that have been happening behind the scenes in our city. As part of the juvenile justice team with Miami Youth for Christ, our vision remains moving into the highest crime communities in Miami to build relationships with at risk youth and their families. As I sit here and write this, it is surreal to know that this week my team launched a mentoring program at 2 different sites— one in a community that is near to my heart & one at a non-profit school that focuses on separating kids from their troubled past to help them discover their potential— both of which would have been impossible without all the support, prayers, and funds we received last year towards what was only a vision. I am still overwhelmed by the generosity of those who continue to support both myself and my fearless team. The vision remains: Relationship. Relationships with our youth, with their families, with the communities surrounding them that are marked by youth violence. Relationships that bring the love of God to a hurting generation. The movement: Rappelling 10 stories down the Keyes Building to raise funds that will further our reach & resources to love & empower the youth in Miami!!!!
