Dear Friends, Some of you may already know I am a board member and supporter of Miami Youth for Christ and have been for seven years. My introduction to Miami YFC was through its Juvenile Justice (JJ) ministry where three times a week JJ staff go into the Dade Juvenile Detention Center to meet kids at their point of need, who are facing serious criminal charges, and who but-for a contact by YFC JJ staff (or someone like them) might never come out of the cycle they are trapped in. Current Miami YFC JJ staff have over 30 years experience in the JJ ministry and have witnessed countless stories of redemption and break through. This is just one of the Miami YFC ministries. Others are meeting Miami youth in high schools, after-school centers, on the streets through its hip hop ministry, and many others. The point is to meet Miami's at-risk youth population where they are, knowing they might otherwise never encounter the life changing message of the gospel and establish relationships and mentors through local churches and agencies to help establish patterns and behaviors that will help them move toward a life of contribution and personal success. Miami YFC has almost 70 years of history going back to its first employee, Billy Graham, and this organization has a rich and storied track-record in Miami and it continues to make a profound difference in the lives of Miami youth.
