 Soccer Without Borders began as a summer camp serving Oakland's refugee community back in 2006.. In the past 19 years, we've grown to include 18 high school teams and 4 middle school teams in Oakland, Hayward and San Francisco—serving over 1000 youth annually. 

Our mission is to use soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing under-served youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success. We believe in a whole-person approach to youth development. Our programs support young to build a greater understanding of their bodies, minds, and voices. 

Small Goals Big Change is a soccer tournament where you, just by playing, can help benefit present and future Soccer Without Borders participants. This year's tournament proceeds will help fund all Bay Area programs—allowing more newcomer youth to find a sense of belonging in the Soccer Without Borders family. 

To play in the SGBC tournament, each team (7–14 players) is asked to fundraise $1,500 through our peer-to-peer platform. Play is 5v5 and coed. Free agents are welcome; placement depends on roster availability. Every team is guaranteed four games (some may play up to six). Each team will be assigned a country to represent—first come, first served on event day. SWB will provide 14 jerseys per team aligned to the country theme.
