My name is Yuleidy, and I am a young immigrant from El Salvador. I came to the United States a few years ago, and soon after, I started studying at Tennyson High School. It was not easy. I had to learn a new language, adapt to a new school, and adjust to a completely different life. But I never thought about giving up on my education.

Back in El Salvador, I was a shy girl who did not focus much on school or think about her future. I found it hard to make friends and to talk to people. Every morning, I woke up early to go to school in my small town, and after class, I helped my family at our small pupusería.

When I had the opportunity to come to the United States, I decided to take it even though I was scared. I was accepted into 12th grade at Tennyson High School. I knew it would be hard to graduate, but I promised myself I would try. I worked hard every day, stayed focused, and did my best to learn and improve.

A few weeks after starting at Tennyson, a friend told me about Soccer Without Borders. From the first day, the program became a place where I felt safe and supported. I could forget my worries, play soccer, and spend time with people who understood me. Soccer Without Borders helped me feel welcome, improve my English, and stay strong in school.

With time, I started to dream bigger. I wanted to become a coach and help other young people the way my coaches helped me. Three summers ago, I joined the Youth Leadership Program with Coach Jose, where I learned how to lead practices, support younger players, and be a role model. That experience gave me confidence and showed me that I could be a leader too.

Today, I am proud to say that I graduated from high school. Earning my diploma was something I once thought was impossible, but with effort, discipline, and the support of my community, I did it. I still volunteer with Soccer Without Borders, helping younger girls find the same motivation and joy that I found when I first joined.

Soccer Without Borders has changed my life. It has helped me believe in myself, build strong connections, and continue dreaming about my future.
