Why Are the Bowls Empty?

At first glance, Empty Bowls may seem like a strange name for an evening filled with barbecue, ice cream, laughter, and community.

But the empty bowl isn't really about what's on the menu.

It's a symbol.

Every day, families in our community face impossible choices between paying rent, keeping the lights on, filling a gas tank, or putting food on the table. Many are working, raising families, and doing everything they can to make ends meet. Yet their bowls remain empty.

Empty Bowls is a chance to come together and change that.

This year, we're gathering around great barbecue, sweet treats, and handcrafted bowls created by local artists. We'll celebrate the generosity of a community that believes no one should go hungry. And while the meal may look different from traditional Empty Bowls events, the purpose remains the same: to raise awareness and funds for our neighbors facing food insecurity.

When you take home a handcrafted bowl at the end of the evening, we hope it serves as a reminder that hunger is not an individual failure, it's a community challenge. And it's one we can solve together.

Because poverty doesn't have to happen. Hunger doesn't have to happen. Empty bowls don't have to happen.

Every ticket purchased, every sponsorship secured, and every donation made helps fill empty bowls throughout Clallam County.
