The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
As I begin a new chapter in my life, I am reminded of humanity's deep connectivity, as demonstrated in the wise words of our beloved Prophet (ﷺ). In thinking about how to commemorate this occasion, I am humbled by the ability to expand the moment beyond myself.
With an empathetic heart, I encourage my dear family, friends, and loved ones to join me in a deep act in solidarity. In lieu of customary bridal shower presents, I ask you to use your generosity to help our brothers and sisters in Gaza.
Each donation, regardless of the amount, has the enormous capacity to offer food, shelter, and hope to our brothers and sisters facing terrible circumstances. Let us use this time of shared joy to bring compassion and kindness into the lives of others. Donate what you can, knowing that the money you are giving holds much more weight feeding and sheltering our brothers and sisters than it would going to any gift you can give to celebrate me.
May our collective generosity be a source of hope for those suffering, bringing us closer to fulfilling the vision of a more united Ummah.
