For the past two summers, I have had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at Camp PALS — a place where volunteers are partnered one-on-one with a person with Down Syndrome for a week of living, learning, and having fun together. It has been a very welcoming, genuine, and joyful environment where everyone belongs. Whether we are playing games, doing activities, or just hanging out, every moment is filled with connection and laughter. Being part of this community opened my eyes to the importance of inclusion and friendship in a way that has stuck with me long after the week of camp ended. I was also fortunate to serve on the Volunteer Leadership Comittee this year, where I helped develop and improve PALS programming and communication. This year, I’m fundraising to help make Camp PALS possible for even more people. Donations help provide travel assistance, financial aid, university housing, meals, and unforgettable experiences for both participants and volunteers.
