Pearls of Wisdom Oyster Roast and Barbecue

The Pearls of Wisdom Oyster Roast and Barbecue is the flagship spring fundraising event hosted by the Virginia Beach Education Foundation (VBEF) at the 24th Street Park at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.

Why We Hold the Event

The event raises vital funds directly supporting public education across Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Proceeds fund innovative classroom grant programs that provide teachers with resources to create hands-on, engaging learning experiences, as well as student nutritional support initiatives.

What Makes It Stand Out

Future-Ready Student Displays:
Guests can walk through interactive showcases where VBCPS students display innovative STEM projects, career-technical achievements, and classroom initiatives funded directly by VBEF grants.

Local Entertainment:
Beyond the all-you-can-eat roasted oysters, slow-cooked barbecue, and refreshments, the event features live performances by local musicians and student ensembles.

Live and Online Auctions:
Attendees can bid on high-value items, unique local experiences, gift packages, and artwork during a fast-paced live auction at the event, while a concurrent online auction allows community members to bid remotely.
