Penguin Plunge Frequently Asked Questions

 

Q: Where does the Plunge take place?
A: The Penguin Plunge takes place on City Island, directly behind the Harrisburg Beach Club.

 

Q: Where should I park?
A: When you pull onto the island you will pull into the main parking lot. There is also limited parking available in the Harrisburg Senators’ VIP lot.

 

Q: What time should I arrive? What time is the actual Plunge?
A: The Plunge is at Noon. Check-in begins at 10am. We recommend giving yourself plenty of time to park, check-in and get ready for the Plunge at Noon.

 

Q: Where do I go to check-in?
A: Look for the check-in/registration tent directly in front of the Harrisburg Beach Club. Please be sure to check-in. You will need to sign a paper waiver, and you will receive your exclusive Penguin Plunge souvenir towel!

 

Q: I received check and cash donations.  What do I do with them?
A: Please bring them with you to hand in during check-in. If possible, please put them in an envelope with your name on them.

 

Q: Is there anywhere to change at the event?
A: Yes.  The Harrisburg Beach Club has several heated changing stations inside. To reach the changing stations, go through the bar area (behind the main building).

 

Q: Are there bathrooms?
A: Yes. The Harrisburg Beach Club has one heated indoor bathroom, and several portable bathrooms will be available outside.

 

Q: Is there anything else to do besides the Plunge?
A: Yes! The event is from 10am-1pm.  The Harrisburg Beach Club will be open and there will be two food trucks (Mocha Motion Coffee and CK’s Chicken). In addition, we will have adoptable puppies and dogs, raffles, music, a photo booth, and a costume contest. It's always a fun time as everyone gets hyped up for the big Plunge!

 

Q: How do I participate in the costume contest? What do I win?
A: We encourage participants to dress up and participate in our costume contest. We have two contest categories: Best Individual and Best Duo or Group. The winner will get to name an adoptable dog or cat at HSHA and receive a cool HSHA swag basket!  Look for the Costume Contest booth at the event.

 

Q: What should I bring with me?
A:  We recommend bringing enough to keep you warm until the Plunge and a change of clothes if you plan to hang out after. We will have a 40 x 40 heated tent for some guests to hang out and the Beach Club has a heated bar area.  There will also be seating outside around the Beach Club area for those that want to acclimate to the cold before taking the Plunge. ?

 

Q:  I want to come for the fun, but I don’t want to Plunge. Is that okay?
A: Absolutely!  The Penguin Plunge is a fun event and welcoming to all.  Please consider donating, as this is one of our largest fundraisers of the year.  You can do so online or at the event.

 

Q: Are dogs permitted?
A: Leashed, dog-friendly canines are permitted at the Plunge.
