Hope This Touches Your Heart

We got our first pup 19 years ago.  Our hearts have continued to be filled with love ever since.

Max was a Boston Terrier-Poodle mix, incredibly smart and quite playful.  Murphy, a Puggle came along four months later and they became the best brothers, always keeping track of each other.

About five years later, a Jack Russel named Spike at the Cornelius Shelter appeared in too many editions of the Lake Norman paper.  With a lick and nubby tail wag, we now had The Three Amigos!

Larry Sprinkle’s Tail Waggers made us aware of two older babies.  Peppe was an 8 year old Jack Russel who had been taken back to the Char-Meck shelter.  Our intent was to foster him to get him out of harm’s way.  ‘Señior Peanut’ became a permanent addition in about an hour.

The second came along nine months later.  Jarrett was an 11-year old Cockapoo who loved being held by Sandy like an infant, reaching out to me to be held, and then back again. Such a love!

Just six days later, a beautiful, pitiful fur baby found Sandy at a church barbecue.  No tag, no chip, fleas, missing teeth, and had scratched his face bloody.  She brought him home, and we named him Christmas Bear, ‘Beary’ for short.  He just wanted to be loved and was as gentle as he could be.

Our babies of all types and sizes became the ‘furry herd’.

Shih-Tzuhs Snoopy, half brother to twins Charlie, and Shopkins continue to share the love, along with Charlotte (the Princess), a Cairn Terrier and our recent elderly love found along the roadside, Elle.

This is not our story.  This is their story, their playfulness, their antics, their unconditional love that will forever be in and on our hearts.

Not everyone can foster or adopt a pet, and that’s OK.  But, many pets need a happy home.

If you cannot adopt, please share your love by making a difference with a donation to The Humane Society of Charlotte.  They have helped so many pets, including our most recent additions, Lucky and Oliver.

And, with your support, they will make a huge difference in so many lives, including the human ones
