I'm walking for a cure

I was diagnosed with progressive pulmonary fibrosis in October of 2023, 5 months after having a lobectomy for non-small cell lung cancer. I was not a stranger to the disease as it was surprisingly listed on my mother's death certificate more than 20 years ago. My older sister, Kim, was diagnosed in her early 40's and my brother, Tom, a few years after. Both of them received the life saving gift of a double lung transplant almost 8 years ago. We unfortunately lost my brother this July when he suffered a medical emergency while undergoing tests for a second lung transplant. Before I was diagnosed with PPF, I never thought about taking a breath and now I am conscious of every single one. I signed up for the PFF Walk to honor my family, my PF and ILD community, and raise funds and build awareness as we walk together toward a cure!

More than 250,000 Americans are living with pulmonary fibrosis (PF) alone, and funds raised by the PFF Walk help accelerate research, empower our community, and transform care so that everyone with PF and interstitial lung disease (ILD) can live a better life.

My goal is to see as many familiar faces walking alongside me this September in Chicago to support the PFF and me. ( I may need volunteers to help carry my portable oxygen).
