I'm walking for a cure

I signed up for the PFF Walk under my cousin Katie Robinson & Aunt Amy Deavitt to raise funds and build awareness as we walk together toward a cure at the PFF Walk!

More than 250,000 Americans are living with pulmonary fibrosis (PF) alone, and funds raised by the PFF Walk help accelerate research, empower our community, and transform care so that everyone with PF and interstitial lung disease (ILD) can live a better life.

PF/ILD has impacted my family directly.

My Grampa Deavitt and 2 Great Aunt's courageously fought this disease and sadly this disease took them from us quite a few years ago.

Recently, my Mom's youngest brother, my Uncle Keith, courageously fought ILD for 2 years. He recieved the gift of life in the form of a double lung transplant on October 7, 2024 and for that we are forever grateful and he is doing so good!

Soon after my Uncle had his double lung transplant his sister..my Aunt Kathy who is my Mom's twin sister, received the same diagnosis as her brother. Unfortunately that diagnosis was quickly followed by a breast cancer diagnosis which was very early stage and contained but still prevented her from receiving the same life-saving gift as her brother and we lost her just over a year later in January 9, 2026. Aunt Kathy had a zest for life...her laughter and smile always lit up any room she was in..she lived life to the fullest. Knowing the struggles she faced to just breathe and lose the ability to do the things she loved and enjoy life like she always did was heartbreaking. 

I want to do whatever I can to help ensure other people do not have to face these struggles with this disease and that families do not have to go through what we all did and to help find a cure.
