Breathing for Betsy
Meet Elizabeth, aka Betsy ❤️
This is my mom. And this smile right here is exactly how I want people to remember her.
She was Betsy to many, but to me, she was Mom — my comfort, my home, and one of the biggest pieces of who I am.
My mom loved the simple things: flowers, the beach, sitting outside, scary movies, playing games together, and spending time with the people she loved. She was the person I could laugh with, talk to, and make memories with that I never realized would someday mean absolutely everything to me.
For five years, my mom fought pulmonary fibrosis. I watched breathing — something most of us never even think about — become something she had to fight for every single day. And still, she kept fighting.
On April 5, 2026, my world changed forever when we lost her.
Now, I get to carry her with me in a different way.
When we walk at National Harbor, every single step will be for her. For the five years she fought. For every breath that became harder. For all the memories she gave us. And for the hope that someday another family won’t have to lose someone they love to pulmonary fibrosis.
I wish everyone walking with us could have known her. I wish you could have heard her laugh, seen her love her family, or spent just one day with her.
But for now, I hope you look at this picture and remember her smile.
This is Elizabeth. This is Betsy. This is my mom. And this is who we walk for. ❤️
Always and forever, Mom.
