PFF Walk 2026

Team Bishop

On August 30th, 2026, Team Bishop will once again participate in the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation Walk at Liberty State Park in Jersey City.

I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in February 2021.  It is a disease that is often misdiagnosed, has NO cure, and is ALWAYS terminal. The “average” survival rate is 3-5 years after diagnosis. This lung disorder is characterized by progressive scarring and deterioration of the lungs, robbing its victims of their ability to breathe.  Approximately 250,000 Americans suffer from PF, and 40,000 lives are taken each year from this disease. Without a lung transplant, there is no chance of survival.

In April 2024, I was placed on a lung transplant list, and on October 5th  I received a lifesaving double lung transplant.  I feel incredibly blessed and grateful for this gift of life.  I am equally as grateful that progress is being made! A new drug, Jascayd, which was approved by the FDA in December 2025, is the first with both antifibrotic and immunomodulatory agents.  This drug significantly reduces the decline in lung function, which increases the years a person can live with this disease. However, it is not a cure, which is why continuing to raise funds and awareness remains imperative.

Over the last four years, Team Bishop has raised over $98,000, and we are so grateful for the generosity of our family and friends. Please continue to support us in this mission by participating in the PFF Walk, or by making a donation so we can give people living with Pulmonary Fibrosis an opportunity to survive beyond the present window that exists.

Lastly, if you are not an organ donor, please become one.  It’s a matter of life and death!
