We are excited to partner with our Perrysburg Junior High Parents Organization and the Perrysburg Schools Foundation to once again offer our annual PJHS Color Run and Walk to support our PBIS Jacket Way Program.
The ninth annual Color Run and Walk is scheduled for Friday, September 18 and will take place during the afternoon of the school day for both our grade 7 and grade 8 students. We will split the two grade levels into sessions with grade 7 participating from 1:15 - 1:50 p.m. and grade 8 participating from 2:05 - 2:40 p.m.
The Color Run and Walk will be held here at PJHS and students have the option to run or walk either a Color Course or a Non-Color Course. If students choose to participate in the Color Course, their clothes will have the color powder on them. We highly recommend wearing clothes that students and families are comfortable with getting the color on them. Students also can bring in a different set of clothes to wear before or after the event. We want to alert family members who pick up their students after school that the color could get on car seats, so we recommend having a towel on those seats.
Students are permitted to wear sunglasses, hats or a mask to prevent any of the color chalk from going into their eyes or mouth. The color chalk is made from non-toxic dyed cornstarch. Our adult volunteers will be throwing the color chalk dust into the air and not directly at the students during the Color Course.
The Annual Color Run and Walk is our primary fundraiser for our PJHS Jacket Way Program. The funds are used to purchase many of the incentive items used for positive student behavior. This includes our weekly, monthly and seasonal incentives with the Jacket Way Raffle. Our Fall Jacket Way Raffle has the following items available: $100 Visa giftcard, a mini-fridge, 40 inch TV, a giftcard package that includes $50 to Dave & Busters, $50 to Bass Pro, and $25 to Amazon, and a package that includes desktop corn hole, Sour Patch Kids and Gummy Nerds.
Students may ask for pledges or donations for their involvement in the Color Run and Walk. For every $25.00 collected, students will receive a separate raffle ticket to win one of the below prizes designated specifically for the Color Run.
- A once a month Jacket Way Gym Time Pass
- Apple AirPods 4
- Smart Projector with a 14 foot inflatable movie screen
- Electric Scooter
The Jacket Way Color Run and Walk Fundraiser will have a team competition theme to it related to our Team Hives. Our Team Hives encourage school spirit and participation by engaging students in various events and activities, both inside and outside of school. Each student is on a Hive based on their course schedule. Specifically, those include:
7th Grade
- Character Crew; students on Team 7A (Mrs. Krabill, Mr. Ferguson, Mrs. Gressman, Mrs. Morgan).
-
Spark Squad; students on Team 7B (Mr. Brangham, Mr. Kulka, Ms. Scharer, Mrs. Newell).
- Impact Crew; students on Team 7C (Mrs. Cannon, Mr. Fahncke, Ms. Mayfield, Mrs. Drake).
- The Legends; students on Team 7D (Mr. Parquette, Mrs. Steele, Miss Patterson, Mrs. Cribbs).
8th Grade
-
Grit Squad; students on Team 8A (Mrs. Downs, Mr. Krueger, Mrs. Avery, Miss Burke).
- Brave Hearts; students on Team 8B (Mr. Peters, Mr. Kuns, Mrs. Helman, Mr. Vrzal).
- Unity Force; students on Team 8C (Mrs. Holewinski, Mrs. Walsh, Mrs. Stoots, Mrs. Townsend)
- The Defenders; students on Team 8D (Mrs. Krueger, Mr. Tonegato, Mrs. Piotrowicz, Mr. Zwyer).
Each Hive will earn comparative points based on their group’s money raised towards the year-long team competition. Team points are collected throughout the year as part of our Jacket Way Program and lead to team-wide incentives.
The PJHS Jacket Way Program is part of the Perrysburg Schools’ Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports System, focusing on positive student behaviors. Information about our Jacket Way Program may be found here: Perrysburg Schools' Jacket Way, while specific information about the program at PJHS is available here: The Jacket Way at PJHS.
During student lunches on Friday, August 28 , our administrative team reviewed the Jacket Way Program with all students. This review included a review of Respectful, Responsible and Ready; the incentive and redemption program and the behavior expectations across the junior high campus. During the week of August 31, students experienced their first Jacket Way Class Meetings with our 7th grade class meetings being led by our 8th Grade WEB Leaders while our 8th grade sessions led by our teachers. These meetings are monthly occurrences and focus on various themes to enhance the student experience at PJHS in alignment with the Perrysburg Schools Portrait of a Jacket.
The Color Run and Walk does have a rain date of Friday, September 25. Thanks for all your support of our Jacket Way Program, our students and our PJHS community. We look forward to kicking off the Perrysburg Homecoming Weekend with this event for our PJHS Students!
