Unfortunately, too many of us have been impacted by cancer in one way or another.  My family has been impacted way too many times, and have lost loved ones to this disgusting, deadly, disease.  My children are growing up without their grandmothers, and it breaks my heart.  I am choosing to run this year in memory of loved ones lost, in honor of the many that have battled and defeated cancer, and in the hopes that future generations won't have to grow up not knowing their family members. 

I am proud to work for an organization that boasts an incredible facility for treatment.  A couple, of the many, honors about our center: 

The Lakeland Regional Health Hollis Cancer Center, which opened in 2003 as part of Lakeland Regional Health, is Central Florida’s premier center for healing, hope and discovery. Designed with great attention to detail, our state-of-the-art campus offers all the services necessary to conquer cancer. Our renowned cancer specialists and team are dedicated to redefining and uplifting the standards of cancer care, walking with patients and families every step of the way: from diagnosis to surgery and treatment to enjoying life after cancer.

Our Radiation Oncology Department was examined by the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) and awarded a full three-year re-accreditation.  Our breast cancer program is fully accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. In 2009, we became the 52nd designated center in the country and only the second in Florida to achieve this distinction. In 2012, the Lakeland Regional Health Hollis Cancer Center was awarded a full three-year re-accreditation.
