I’m Matthew Ezzell, and it’s an honor to represent my class as this year’s 2026 Freshman
Homecoming King nominee for Vestavia Hills High School. I’m a proud member of the
Freshman Leadership Council and High School Tennis Team this year. Last year, I served as
the Pizitz Middle School SGA President, Pizitz Ambassador, middle school tennis team for two
years, math team for three years, and a Peer Helper.
You may know me, though, as the “Cash Kid.” For two years in middle school, I produced the
“Cash Kid Podcast” where I taught kids and teens how to earn, save, and invest money earlier
in life. We produced over 50 episodes with thousands of listeners, where I interviewed multi-
millionaires, entrepreneurs, and school and state officials on the importance of better financial
education for kids and teens. I started investing at the age of 10 and have helped many of my
peers do the same. This is a passion of mine: that my generation becomes the most financially
literate ever, and smarter with money.
Outside of school, I’m a member of Vestavia Church of Christ and participate in weekly bible
studies and youth group gatherings. One of the things I love about my church family is the
sense of security and close connections. It’s a safe place to grow and learn. That’s why I’m
excited to support the Prescott House this year in raising money to give kids who have been
abused or neglected a safe place to go to get the support they need. It’s so important to support
those who are so vulnerable.
Oh, and in my little spare time, I also work at Publix (so I can save and invest more!)
These opportunities at school, home, work, and church have shaped me into the person I am
today, and I love being a part of the Vestavia community. I appreciate your support, and go
Rebels!
