It has been a goal of mine to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon and I couldn't think of a better way to do this, but to help raise money in support of a charity with a good cause. Every donation will go directly to Girl Power 2 Cure and I am honored to run in support of this organization.

"Founded in 2006, Girl Power 2 Cure is a dedicated and vibrant nonprofit organization leading a movement to end Rett Syndrome, a severe neurological disorder that primarily affects girls.  Girl Power 2 Cure is here to respond to the urgent need for support, education, mainstream awareness and treatments. "

    "For GP2C, change starts with a simple belief - that girls losing the ability to walk, speak or use their hands for a lifetime is unacceptable." 

THE MISSION:

"To empower a movement to see Rett Syndrome become the first curable childhood neurological disorder."

"Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurological and developmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops, causing a progressive inability to use muscles for eye and body movements and speech" 

"Most children with Rett syndrome have a mutation in a particular gene on the X chromosome. Exactly what this gene does, or how its mutation leads to Rett syndrome, isn't clear. It's believed that the single gene may influence many other genes."
