ABOUT THE PUGET SOUND BUDDY WALK
The Buddy Walk is a time to celebrate our family and community members with Down syndrome; to promote their acceptance, inclusion and respect; and to raise funds in support of the DSC.

ABOUT THE DOWN SYNDROME COMMUNITY OF PUGET SOUND
The Down Syndrome Community of Puget Sound has a mission to provide impactful programs and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families while evolving perceptions in the broader community. Funds raised at the Puget Sound Buddy Walk allow them to continue to offer their many programs, events, and initiatives, and to add more to meet the needs of their members.

2019 - NEW LOCATION
The Buddy Walk has moved from the Seattle Center to the Woodland Park Zoo! The new venue provides a chance to tour the zoo all morning, before Buddy Walk festivities begin at 1PM. But, it also means attendees need to PRE-REGISTER by noon on October 5th to be admitted to the zoo for FREE on October 6th.

2019 - EVENT DETAILS

• 9:30 am Check-in opens for those pre-registered participants wanting to visit the Zoo prior to the Walk beginning
• 1:00 pm Official start to the 23rd Annual Puget Sound Buddy Walk®
• 1:00 pm Kid's activities, resource booths, vendors, team photos, food trucks
• 2:10 pm Recognition of top fundraisers & sponsors, event speakers
• 2:45 pm Walk begins!
• 3:15 pm Medals at finish for Walkers with Down syndrome and all children age 12 and under; Silent Disco (Note: Search online for "Silent Disco" - it looks incredible!)
• 4:00 pm Event ends and Zoo closes

2019 - WHAT THE DSC MEANS TO OUR FAMILY

The Down Syndrome Community of Puget Sound was the first group of people to share information with us about Down syndrome at a time when we needed it most and has been a wonderful source of community through playgroups and other events throughout the year. In 2019, we are also attending the DSC's "Ready, Set, Kindergarten!" program to understand how we can promote classroom inclusion as Jonathan prepares to enter Kindergarten next year!

Each year we choose a name that captures something unique about Jonathan's personality. 2019 is our family's 5th year attending the Buddy Walk and we hope to maintain this tradition for years to come...
