For the first time in 75 years, the stage at Queens Centers for Progress is coming to life — and the stars? 100 participants from our 164th Street Day Habilitation program, stepping into the spotlight (and behind the scenes!) for our first-ever full musical production!
Over the next 12 weeks, our participants will be partaking in a new program, The QCP Players Theater Program, an inclusive, joy-filled initiative that is bringing the magic of musical theater to life, one scene at a time. They are not just starring in a show — they are running it. From belting out musical numbers and choreographing dance routines, to painting sets, crafting candy-colored costumes, ushering guests, and even running the concessions stand, QCP Players are in charge of every element of production. Their debut? A technicolor twist on Willy Wonka Kids, complete with golden tickets and a transformed auditorium that’s bursting with chocolate-factory charm.
