ALS (or Lou Gehrig's) is a progressive, degenerative neuromuscular disease. The life expectancy post diagnosis is two to five years. It is estimated that it can cost up to $200,000 per year to care for an ALS. The Brigance Brigade was founded by former Baltimore Raven O.J. Brigance and his wife Chanda. Through this foundation, assistance to patients with ALS and their families is available.
Your contribution can help:
$10 will cover the cost of a gait belt so someone with ALS can move and transfer more safely.
$57 will pay for 1 - 2 hours of in-home care
$157 will allow for a family ALS caregiver to attend their own doctor appointment
$257 will pay for 1 - 3 days of in-home care
$300 - $500 will pay for an additional battery for a breathing machine not covered by standard insurance.
$570 will pay for up to a week of in-home care
