This summer, I’m joining ChildVoice’s team of cyclists to take on RAGBRAI LIII—crossing the state of Iowa mile by mile with a purpose far greater than the ride itself. I’m riding to bring hope, healing, and opportunity to children whose lives have been shaped by conflict and trauma, and to raise vital funds to Move ChildVoice’s Mission Forward.     

But this year, our goal is especially urgent. In Nigeria, our team is working in remote communities where roads are rough, distances are long, and access is never guaranteed. For years, we’ve relied on a vehicle that is now failing—costly to maintain and increasingly unreliable. Without dependable transportation, we cannot consistently reach the children and families who depend on us.

This isn’t about convenience. It’s about access. It’s about whether a child receives care, whether a program continues, and whether hope shows up at all. Rebecca Malgwi, ChildVoice Co‑Director in Nigeria, shared, “The new vehicle for the Nigeria office will not only save us the cost of maintenance but will also enable us to access more program sites with ease and ensure the safety of our staff.”

As a rider, I’ve committed to raising $1500, my part of our team goal of $30,000 to fund a new, durable vehicle capable of reaching internally displaced communities—places where ChildVoice’s presence can mean the difference between despair and a future rebuilt.
