Once Again it's Time to Dig Deep for the Phoenix Kids!
Every year I train in the hot hot summer sun and ride to raise money to support Phoenix Bikes, an awesome Arlington nonprofit that educates youth in grades 6-12 in bike mechanics, allows them to earn their very own bike for free, and gets them out riding, racing, and giving back to the community with their new skills.
This year is extra special! As usual, I'm planning to ride a full "sizzling summer century" -- 100 miles -- on August 2nd and all you have to do is sit back and click a couple of times to support the cause. But if you take a second to look at my photo on the top of this page, you'll see that I am wearing one of the coveted Phoenix Bikes shop shirts that I earned by completing an Advanced Mechanics course. Now I can be even more useful volunteering with the kids in the shop!
