I'm thrilled to be participating in the Phoenix Bikes Raise & Ride summer fundraising bike ride, and I'm asking for your support for an organization that's truly changing lives in our community.
Since transitioning into retirement (thanks, federal government! ?), I've had the privilege of serving as the volunteer coordinator for Phoenix Bikes' Give-a-Bike program. Our mission says it all: "Transforming lives, one magical machine at a time. Through Give-a-Bike, we unlock opportunity, build community, and demonstrate that every person deserves access to the freedom and possibility that bicycles provide."
This year alone, working with our amazing social services partners, we've distributed 51 bikes to community members who needed them most. The joy and gratitude I see when someone receives their bike is absolutely incredible. These aren't just bicycles – they're lifelines to employment, pathways to recreation, and keys to independence.
Phoenix Bikes works with youth, serves as a community bike shop, and creates connections that strengthen our entire community. Every dollar donated helps us put more wheels on the road and more smiles on faces.
