I'd love your help supporting Phoenix bikes this summer!
I'm volunteering to lead a group of youth riding 100mi Aug 2nd for the Phoenix Bikes Raise and Ride fundraising event.
Phoenix bikes has been a part of our household for as long as I can remember, whether supporting Kidical Mass rides when the kids were still riding in bike trailers, to multiple years of the Arlington Fun Ride and then the history and later food-themed Scavenger Hunt rides. When my kids were racing bike racing, our team (NCVC) was partnered with Phoenix for practices; the kids were really one big team, cheering eachother on at races. My older son has been volunteering at Phoenix for several years and my younger son is looking forward to doing the earn-a-bike/give-a-bike program there in the next year. As someone who loves the freedom of cycling and the tangible sense of accomplishment in building bikes, I love that Phoenix is able to use cycling to empower youth in the community. And I appreciate your help in supporting this mission.
More information about the organization:
Phoenix Bikes is more than just a shop. It’s a third space where teens:
Earn a bike and give a bike
Learn bike mechanics, teamwork, and leadership
Get outside and discover their power and purpose
They’re also one of the few early, voluntary workforce readiness programs, helping teens build skills and confidence before they fall behind.
But here’s the challenge:
⚠️ Youth demand is outpacing staff capacity
⚠️ They are currently serving 40 youth per 1 staff in the shop
⚠️ Without more funding, they may have to turn kids away
Your donation helps:
✅ Fund staff and youth instructors
✅ Keep programs free and accessible
✅ Ensure no young person is left on the sidelines
This is why I’m riding. Every dollar supports real opportunities for youth to learn, grow, and ride toward a brighter future.
Thanks for being part of the journey and for supporting Phoenix Bikes!
