Ride the Rockies 2017

To Friends and family,

This will be my 4th year in doing the Ride the Rockies bicycle ride in Colorado to raise money for the Samaritan House in Denver, CO.  Over the past 20+ years I have volunteered at the Senior Resource Center in downtown Denver.  This time has provided me the opportunity to work directly with the homeless and the socially deprived.  For the past 4 years I have been working with the Samaritan house and experiencing how they contribute toward helping the homeless regardless of sex, age, color or religion. 

I see the homeless situation as a non ending story in our world.  We have all been blessed with having good families, friends and mentors that has steered us down the right path.  Many have not had such luck.  The Samaritan house provides a step up for those in need at this stage in their life. 

Our time and donations help those individuals in need at the Samaritan House. The Samaritan house provides not only food & shelter, but counseling that provides individuals building blocks that can get them out of the current situation and moves them to becoming independent.  They take in single men, and now women.  They have places for families with children.  It's truly an amazing shelter and organization. 

I love the quote from Proverbs, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, show him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".  The Samaritan house sees this as foundation. They provide the fish, but they also teach them how to fish. 

We are so blessed to have places like the Samaritan House. The government cannot take care of the homeless; it's our donations and time that make a difference.   Please donate and help the Samaritan House continue their mission.  Without them the homeless have no place to find food, shelter, socialization or hope for the future.
