Five Questions…..
Are you cold?
Are you hungry?
Are you tired?
Are you sick?
Do you need a place to sleep?
These 5 questions are all that is asked of anyone who seeks help through the Samaritan House shelter in downtown Denver. That's it.
This inclusive perspective is part of what makes me proud to continue joining my Team Samaritan House friends in using Ride the Rockies to raise money for the Samaritan House as well at the other shelters managed by Catholic Charities.
This year’s Ride the Rockies begins in Alamosa and following a ‘C -shaped’ route, ends seven days later in Salida. Along the way, we will have ridden 447 miles and climbed 32,000 feet over some of Colorado's most famous mountain passes: Wolf Creek, Molas, Red Mountain and Monarch to name a few.
No small feat and it never seems to get easier no matter how much I train. But it's still just a bike ride and nothing like the daily challenges of a family experiencing homelessness. So, on June 11, I’ll leave the starting line with my 40+ teammates, riding hard to earn your investment in our mission - helping the people served by the Samaritan House.
My personal fundraising goal is $4,470 – and I have committing $447, or the first 10%.
Please help me reach this goal so together we can make life a little better in the short term for our homeless neighbors and perhaps help some create a better life for themselves and their families long term.
Ride on!
