Join our team riding to the rescue of the homeless.
Dear Friends and Family,
This June, I will join 40 other riders from Team Samaritan House on the seven-day Ride the Rockies cycling event through southern Colorado. Ride the Rockies will begin in Alamosa on June 11 and will conclude in Salida on June 17. We will be riding 447 miles, and climbing over 30,000 vertical feet!
In addition to preparing for this challenging event, Team Samaritan House is also working to raise awareness and funds to help the homeless in our community in the following ways:
We will provide funding to Catholic Charities’ four homeless shelters, including Samaritan House in Denver, that serves 3,500 individuals yearly, 191 veterans and 272 families with 494 children.
These shelters provide overnight stay and long-term residence with intensive case management.
Last year, nearly 1.25 million nights of shelter were provided and approximately 754,575 meals were served at these shelters.
The ultimate goal of all Catholic Charities’ shelters is to help residents become self-reliant by providing needed individualized assistance.
Your support will go a long way as each meal provided at Samaritan house costs about $1.60, meaning a $100 donation buys 62 meals! Additionally, Catholic Charities will soon open a new women’s shelter in Denver that will offer 150 beds and comprehensive services to help serve the growing number of homeless women in the community.
